A fun announcement
Revision is coming...
Hello all! I neglected to post earlier this week, so I’ll make up for it today with a short announcement:
Starting in July, I’ll be co-leading a revision workshop—book inc’s Book Revision Lab (BRL), a six-month program in which writers with a completed first draft of a novel or memoir can get guidance and support from experts and fellow writers as they revise their work to a polished draft.
Check out this recent book inc journal, an interview with co-lead Kaecey McCormick and me where we share a little about ourselves, our writing, and our honest feelings on revision :)
I joined BRL in 2024 to revise my first novel, and I benefited greatly from the experience. For me, revision can feel daunting and a little lonely, so it made a huge difference to have a group of supportive fellow writers who checked in regularly and cheered me on. I also learned about story structure and revision techniques, and got to swap manuscripts with classmates for peer reviews.
Co-leading this class is an exciting step for me as a writer. I’m excited for the accountability in revising one of my “writing year” novels (although it remains to be seen if this will be novel #1 or novel #2. Time to get moving on novel #2!). And, I’m thrilled to be a co-lead, to support and learn from other writers in BRL as we navigate the tumultuous waters of revision together.
Curious about BRL?
Are you a writer with a finished (or nearly finished!) draft of a novel or memoir? Are you considering revision, but not sure where to start? Check out BRL! Learn more and apply on book inc’s site. Applications are still open, and we would love to hear from you.
Thank you for reading,
Olivia
